Breaking "Rules" for Spring

" Fᴀsʜɪᴏɴ is the only game you can win by breaking the rules."
There are rules for everything, including the thing that makes us most different and creative from one another --Fashion. I'm going to be breaking 5 fashion "rules" in these spring ensembles.

Rule № 1 - Don't Mix Prints

This is probably my favorite fashion rule out of all of them. Not only is this a fabulous rule to break, but it really allows you to have fun with your outfit and test your creativity as well. In this outfit, I chose to create the greatest fear of the followers of this rule -- Polka Dots and Stripes. Someone have mercy on the soul that dare mix these two patterns together. I think the main concept that really pulls this look together is the neutral tone, but I highly encourage and commend anyone that mixes patterns with bright, bold colors.

Callie's Picks - Orange Clutch
Callie's Picks - Beaded Bib Necklace

Rule № 2 - Match Your Belt with Your Shoes

This is such a simple rule to break that I decided to make this outfit only SC. Mixing your belt and shoes is such a good way to go because you can slip a pop of color in such a versatile way. In my outfit, I chose to insert a fun statement pattern through the shoes to add a little more dimension to the outfit. Also, the fact that the shoes have pink, which matches the blouse, make the entire outfit come together much more smoothly with the unique shoe pattern.

Rule № 3 - Save the Sequins for the Night

Sequins are a beautiful thing to make any piece in your outfit pop. You can style them very simply or with extreme extravagance (which is what most people choose to do). In this outfit, I styled it as simply as I could. I went with sequins in a dark green color to keep it serious and not so showy as sequins are meant to be. I finished the look off with a pair of simple black pumps to keep it versatile.

Items Used:
Callie's Picks - Victorian Collar Blouse
Inspired by Chanel - Sea Foam Skirt
Free Item - Dior Inspired Velvet Jacket
Vinyl - Black Sheer Pantyhose
Couture Tribute - All Over Sequins Clutch
Velvet Orchard - Studded Stilettos

Rule № 4 - Don't Pair Socks with Sandals

Socks and sandals are the biggest trend that's up and coming, especially for those who like to dress high fashion. In this look, I went for an soft and cute look, but with a lot of high fashion inspiration. To fill in any misplaced-looking space, I paired some light pantyhose underneath the socks. I decided to do the same at the top by placing a turtleneck underneath the dress to keep it filled and looking much more complete.

Bonjour Bizou - Classic White Sweater

Rule № 5 - Save the Sneakers for the Gym

Instead of opting for ballet flats, choose sneakers. Sneakers are so versatile and make any outfit simple and casual. Try pairing a dress with white sneakers for a simple street style look. I kept with the street style by pairing a leather jacket with a simple detailed dress making the white sneakers an easy match to tie the outfit together.
