What I Loved:

The range of items is great! There's something for everyone, and they're in super usable - "basic" - colours too.

The graphics are decent, even if everything looks weirdly shiny, it's more than I'd have expected from BASICS.

The window store also has nice-looking, co-ordinated outfits in it, for a change! Maybe it was hard to mess up, seeing as the entire store is just, well, BASIC - but I've seen so many ugly outfits recently, it's hard not to be happy, if not a little impressed.

What I Hated:

So many items look an awful lot like ones we've already had - some even in stardollars.

There's so many pieces here that look eerily similar to previous ones, and this is a growing trend. Just because we liked it last time, doesn't mean we're in need of ten more!

What I Hope:

I really just want stardoll to be releasing more starcoin items, for all members - and at more reasonable prices. Is that too much to ask?

What I Loved:

So much shiny! There's an insane amount of metallic in this collection, which is not something we see too often anymore.

The guy's outfit! Yes, the guys get an outfit. Usually, I'd be a bit upset at the fact that it's all black, but the unusual shapes make up for that.

The furniture -I've said it before, and I can keep on saying it, because I always love it when stardoll incorporates suite items into their outfit collections. It makes it so much easier to create an outfit that matches the room, and if you're more suite-design than fashion inclined, there's something for everyone.

What I Hated:

There's always something, unfortunately.

In this case, it's the horrific prices. I dislike paying over 20sd for Subcouture, which is limited, or tributes. This is neither, yet is prices horrifically high, with THREE dresses costing 32sd!

There's also no starcoin items at all. Which, considering how completely basic the gold outfit is, is ridiculous.

So, yeah, that gold outfit. Want to love it, but the top, pants, and shoes just looks like stuff we've had ten times over already.

This jacket is definitely living up to the hype of the hotbuy name.

It's posed, which has no doubt added to the popularity, and at 27sd it's a definite steal. But you'll need to buy before the end of the month, before it's gone gone gone!

But if you're not convinced this is the must-buy hotbuy, just check out these dolls for a little inspirational proof:

Although all three went with mostly monochrome looks, I thought that they all had such distinctive and different styles I had to use them!

The Velvet Orchid : Designer Inspired Transparent Plastic Trenchcoat may have a long name, but in it's super short time on Stardoll, it's clearly become a big hit already.

It's been so long since this store had a new, non-couture release! I'm hoping there's some Basics to come but in the meantime, I'm happy to have a few new items in SC.

What I Loved:

Obviously, the fact it's all in starcoins! Lats WC release included stardollar items, which angered a lot of players. So, I'm happy it's back to the humble beginnings this store has always been about!

There's also a large variety in the styles and colours, so there's definitely one piece for every doll to enjoy.

And there's a guys outfit! Even if my own doll is female, I'm super happy when stardoll brings out a new, non-black-jeaned outfit for the guys., They deserve some colour too!

The accessories for this collections are absolutely fantastic. They're usable, trendy, and go with all the other items in the collection. Too often in the past, WC's items have looked super clashy.

(No picks this time as the starplaza is playing up for me!)

What I'm Unsure Of:

The high price of starcoin items. In any other store, I would have written a huge rant, but this is a store that is weirdly well known for it's outrageously high priced starcoin pieces. I'm not saying that they should be high priced, because nobody likes overpriced anything, more just that it's to be expected when we're talking WC.

There's also a number of items that closely resemble ones we've had in stardollars, which is bound to make those who shelled out on them previously, more than a little mad. It's nice for users who wanted them but couldn't previously afford them, but it's no less offensive for those who could - and have - already paid.

What I Hated:

The lack of prints. There's a lot of bold going on, but one thing that I'm mising is the key crazy prints this store is so known for. Keeping it simple makes me wonder why they didn't just make 3 more colours and call it Basics.

Several items can't be worn without somethings - specifically the rather pricey, stardollar-costing, Underneath Stardoll sets -without your dolls bra poking out. Which makes them pretty redundant if you're a new, non-ss member without any stardollars - exactly who these kinds of stores are made for. Way back when, starcoin versions were available in limited skin tones, something I think they really should have kept if they were going to release cleavage-bearing collections like this.

Fishnets are a total classic when it comes to the basic pieces. They can make their way into any style of wardrobe, and there's plenty of styles to choose from, too.

How You Wore It:

Mareyyy / MeTalMaFe1998 / ronn

Plaza Picks:

Since one pair was white and blended in with the background, I went with the names and brands rather than item pictures this time.

What I Loved:

The textures! There's so many nicely detailed items in this collection, something so rarely seen in starcoin items.

They're also  good array of genuinely basic, classic items. The last collection of this store left us with obnoxious colours and crazy stripes, neither of which are all that fun to try and style. This time, it's all sleek, mostly monochromatic with small accents of colour.

My Picks:

What I'm Unsure Of:

The lack of variety. Typically, BASICS collection have a large range of colours, of the same item - it's a huge part of it's appeal, because it means stardolls can buy something to go with everything. Other than the curtains, and floor lamps, everything is in one colour only.

While I think that the old way of making multiple floors for each colour is outdated and awkward, would it really have been that hard to put the little coloured circles, like with posed items? It seems the logical way for this store to go, to me.

Also, we can't buy the interior. As mad as I was about that 20sd BASICS (?!?!?) interior a few seasons ago, this one isn't sold at all. The Pretty N Love: Pretty Interior has the same floor, though.

What I Hated:

Seriously, what is with these insanely overpriced items? I can't see the advantage of it in starcoin pieces, unless they want to encourage broke new members to leave the game. Or buy stardollars for lack of any other real option, maybe. 285sc for a completely basic couch is utterly ridiculous.

What I Loved:

There's so many super cute, original, nicely textured pieces! I'm not usually into such girly clothes, but they suit the theme of the store.

It's a very trendy, current collection with cold shoulders, sheer, and embroidery. Whoever collated and designed these definitely knew what they were doing, and actually listened to members' requests.

My Picks:

What I Hated:

Firstly, the prices. 20sd is a lot to pay for a jacket that isn't a hotbuy or tribute piece. Then, there's only one starcoin item, and even with my Royalty discount bringing it to 144sc, it's insanely expensive for a very basic skirt.

An I can't forget to mention the Frilled Shorts. These are so wrong, in so many ways, I don't really even know where to start. They look like the kind of freebies that never leave the last page of your closet, and so not something that anyone would ever pay stardollars for.

On The Fence:

As a paying member, I truly wish there were more exclusive things and regular rewards for Superstars. This collection has two items which are superstar-only. While that does make them slightly more exclusive, the items themselves aren't anything special. We've had plenty of embroidered shorts before, and plenty of long sleeved, cropped tops.

And that's the other thing - fractionally edited versions of stuff we already have is become all too common. With this collection, they're different enough that I didn't instantly notice it. But I did notice in the end, and it left me feeling vaguely disappointed.

Previously, I made a post about Coachella on a budget - today, I'm checking out how all the other dolls are wearing it, picking out the must-have pieces, and of course styling my own versions!

How You Wore It:

goldielocks2 - goes for floral and a fanny pack for full festival fun

mrsSaMable - there's a little bit of grunge in this looked, paired with the classic paisely and floppy hat

sthefanie15Love - keeping in practical with a khaki jacket, always cute lace shorts and a pop-of-colour bustier

Plaza Picks:

Floral Print Kaftan Trails : As worn by goldielocks2, this is just a super classic, bohemian-in-pastel item. It screams of feilds of flowers, hippy chic outfits and sunshine.

Anime Skirt Evil Panda: This year, sheer has been everywhere, so why not at festivals? This skirt is also a practical, midi length and has a dancing flow about it.

80s Denim Mini Original Future : There's always room for a miniskirt, and the 80s is the perfect era for festival inspiration. Front buttons for the win!

Suede Tassel And Patch Shoulder Bag Bonjour Dizou: Festivals are meaningless without somewhere to stash your stuff, so why not go with the classic tassels in khaki?

Wide Flower IT Pants It Girls: Wide leg pants are so very festival, both practical and fashionable. And since it's spring, floral is never a bad idea.

 My Outfits:

Would you rock the Festival style?

First up, where are all the poses? When this store was first released, that's what it was all about. They were cheesy, sure, but cheap and non-limited and lots of dolls loved it. Lately, this store has done away with what made it so great and it's been left looking rather basic and bland.

What I Liked:

I didn't Love anything, but there were some decent pieces available.

There's some decent looking graphics in this, like the Programmer Jeans which look like worn denim in texture, and the Architect Blazer, which is just plain cute. The Architect Briefcase actually looks very realistic with its shading, even if the texture is a bit lacking.

The addition of interior pieces is, as always, a welcome sight. They're great for anyone who wants to match their outfit to their suite or vice versa.

Ranging from 5 to 16 sd, the prices are very decent as well, and reflect the items being sold quite nicely.

My Picks:

What I Hated:

This collection is entirely unoriginal. We already HAVE a multitude of labcoats. We already HAVE black, straight legged pants, blue striped blouses, green khaki jackets and baggy, worn-in jeans.

And, as I said at the start, there's STILL not poses - a hand-in-pocket lab coat does not count. Take away the supposed themes, and these items could fit in It Girls and Vinyl or Bonjour with ease. They're just not that interesting.

There's also only three, rather unfortunate looking, starcoin items. I can see no fashionable application of an ugly-shade-of-yellow hardhat, for example. If you come up with one, please tell me, I'd love to see it.

Usually, I don't like to review Callie's Picks all that much, simply because of the fact that it's all just re-released items and nothing new, but this time, I just had to. It was a mess.

What I Loved:

Not a lot to like about this collection. The mannequins look mostly ok. There's quite a few items in starcoins. The accessories are many and cute. But it only goes down hill from there.

What I Hated:

I'm doing this as a list, because... well, I hated a lot.
  • Totally unoriginal theme - the'res already been "Pastels In Paris", which had very much the same style and EVEN HAS SOME OF THE SAME ITEMS. Talk about a lazy collection!
  • The prices are horrendously high, even with the Royalty discount. I get that many of these are Tribute pieces, but I wouldn't pay that much for the original version, let alone Callie's!
  • That hair. It was bad enough the first time around when it didn't fit or flatter, why on earth would we want to see it all over again?
  • They used the Exclusive Bicycle. I think the name speaks volumes about the irony of that.
  • So, so, so many ugly shoes.

What did you think of this collection?

Rio's tangerine coloures Criss Cross Batwing Blouse has taken on wings and fast became a new staple piece! So many dolls are wearing it, but the classic looks is with denim. I chose three dolls who paired orange and blue to make this top pop:

What I Loved:

This was definitely released for the purposes of Coachella styling, which is reflected in the items.

Stardoll has created a number of super trendy, current pieces that are totally Coachella worthy and which Vanessa Hudgens herself would not doubt approve of!

The White Lace Playsiut has some super cute texture going on, I really wish we'd seen a few more lace pieces like it.

The majority of dress lengths are actually decent - way too many collections lately have had scarily short skirts, but this time, they actually look long enough to wear in the real world.

The mannequin outfits actually look decent this time! Usually, they just don't look great, but this time, they're not that bad. In fact, they're good enough to get into my review - not sure if that means the others are really bad, because in all truth, I still think Stardoll could have done better.

My Picks:

What I Hated:

As I mentioned in my last review, Stardoll's items are just becoming flatter and flatter, and it's not okay. Where's the shape in this? My doll has boobs and hips, but these items almost all make her look like a plank!

And, again, they've recycled items. I though the Bustier Frill Tangerine Top was cute, but looking at the hideous print on the Dotted Top and Pants, they shouldn't have bothered to make another one. Spots are rarely a good print, but yellow on white is outright hideous.

Overall, ALL of the prints chosen in this collection are awful. Many otherwise decent items have been ruined by terrible choices in colours and prints - or both. Like the Leopard Print Halter Skirt, which in plain white or black could almost have been nice.

Stardoll messed up somewhere with those earrings. There's a pair of two marked "DO NOT USE" or, you can shell out and buy two left earrings, which is going to cost you double. That's not okay!

There's so many cool coachella looks out there, but today I decided to tackle one very important issue - how to look festival ready on a budget!

I've created 3 looks for under 30sd, and 3 for starcoins.

I'm hoping to do this every Thursday from now on - I know I've been a little slack lately, but I've been extremely busy - and more than a little stressed - IRL.

As per usual, I've included my favourites from the staplaza, my own stylings, and of course the outfits of stardoll members. Hope you like it and leave a comment below!

How You Wore It:

conyta.00 / ludelicia / auefashion4

I picked these three out because they have each a very different take on the way to wear a pleated item. Conyta.00 is very bohemian, and very ready for Coachella season. Ludelicia is very glam and suited to the streets of Fashion Week, while Auefashion4 is looking like a ballgown godess!

My Suite Stylings:

My Plaza Picks:

There were so many, I decided to split this up!

Shirts:

Dresses:

Skirts:
